Experiment 002Ready to try

Assumption

Your brain hates an empty space. It fills it in.

Hypothesis

Some of what feels like knowing is assuming.

Duration

3–4 minutes

The framing

Your brain is constantly trying to make sense of things.

Someone doesn’t text back. A friend walks past without saying hello. Your boss says, “Can we talk?”

Almost instantly, your brain creates an explanation.

The interesting part: you may not actually know. That doesn’t make your interpretation wrong. It makes it an interpretation.

Three layers1 of 3

Think of a recent moment when you made an assumption. Take it one layer at a time.

Layer 01

What happened

Observable only. Example: they didn’t respond to my text.

You can start anywhere.
